Here is the group photo from the meeting. It was shot on the observation deck of the Biomedical-Physical Sciences building at Michigan State University. It's hard to get planetarium folks to stand still for these photos. One way to keep'em still it to take the group photo in the elevator. Before the group photo, we saw the planetarium show "Journey to the Edge of Space and Time." We listened to paper talks from John Schroer from Detroit, Jennifer Horvatin from Flint, Mark Reed from Jackson, Eric Schreur from Kalamazoo, and Ethan Brown from Grand Rapids. Then we took a tour of the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL). Had a nice pizza lunch from Bells Greek Pizza. Thanks to Sky-Skan for sponsoring the pizza. We then met in a classroom to share some hands-on astronomy activities. But I didn't grab my camera until all that was over, so there's no photographic record. After the group photo, we learned about the SOAR telescope from Dr. Jack Baldwin. SOAR is a 4.1 meter telescope in Chile. It can be controlled from this room. It was late in the day. I think someone was starting to have some head-bobs. Mike Narlock was ready to give tours of the Meat Lab. Nobody was interested. Last stop was the MSU Dairy Store. Thanks to Bowen Technovation, everyone had fresh ice cream. Here's who attended the meeting.
